Semester Reflection

I don't really feel as if this project's something worth discussing, at least for me. It wasn't really the best six months on the planet, considering I had a rough start to my semester and above all else, I dropped the program. I hate to get a little bit sentimental over it, but this program has been the best and probably one of the few really genuinely good parts of high school. In words I can't really piece together that well, I want to say that from the bottom of my heart, I've loved every moment of it. The rotation of freshmen year, the two classes I had sophomore year, the impulsive decision to go with Web Design as a Junior (so impulsive even the counselor questioned it) and not really as much of this semester as I probably should have. There's no point in dragging out something that I wasn't going to put 100% of myself in and I don't have a single clue where it started, but when it did there wasn't any avoiding the situation anymore.

I know there could've been more of me trying or more of me figuring myself out, but life is too short to spend time worrying about the past and spend more time figuring my life out. I hope the best of luck to this adorable and loving class. All in all, I will promise to be back once a month until school ends but otherwise I will try and stop distracting everyone with it

Stubby Squids from A-Z: Logo and Business Examples

My actual logo didn't come to me until I started making my business examples. This was purely because that's usually how I work in the first place. I make a couple of super bad logos and usually go from there. I hated most of the logos I turned in and decided to start fresh with a stubby squid/yellow theme! It turned out super cute and proves exactly what the company is supposed to be.
Logo; Stubby Squid Outline with name of comapny and two cute little fins
Stationary paper for the company with the
logo at the top and the important info at the bottom

Store front with logo in the window

Front of the business card with essential information,
Also has repeated stubby squids on it for the heck of it!!

Back of the business card for some extra oomph

A fun little catch phrase and a billboard which you would see along side a highway
or something of that sort.
An app so you can watch the
live streaming anywhere
you could go!!!

Stealing like an Artist

Stealing like an Artist is a thrilling “BAR CONVERSATION,” (quoted from an actual amazon review) that talks about the good vs. bad thefts, how art that only comes from the head isn’t any good, and how creativity is subtraction. The author argues that with his ten principles that he writes about in his chapter book, you can lead a more creative life. He basically spends the entire book acting like that philosophy professor that won’t ever stop talking in your class, which ends up not even being about philosophy in the first place. The author has an amazing voice, yet is lacking in his professional sense that makes it seem worth reading. The pictures are distracting, but the message is loud and clear as to what you’re supposed to do. I think they’re there so you could open this book up in a bookstore, skim through it and get the same message out of it even when you’d read it thoroughly. The author supports every point in the argument, even though there isn’t much to argue in the first place. I just want to call it an argument for the reviews sake. I believe it is convincing, yet it would’ve been a better on some angry old dudes website than in a printed “New York Time’s Bestseller,” which seems to be every single book. This just makes me think more on my creativity and how I’m handling it! I don’t see anything else changing, as I’ve been using this information since my sophomore year.

Project Proposal

I received the animal Stubby Squid, the letters A and Z, the Mineral Quartz and the number 24. My company will be named Stubby Squid's from A to Z. The only thing they make are Quartz key chains with the Stubby Squid's names on them, but they just have 24 Stubby Squid's that they monitor and post about on the internet. They're purely a non-profit organization and they don't make anything. They make people happy. That's all that matters. They target anyone that wants something cute, slimy and adorable. They sometimes get donations too, because they have live streams of all stubby squids for 24 whole hours! Life is great in Stubby Squid Land, it is also lowkey a waterpark.

okay guys r u rdy

FIRST POST OF THE YEARR

Recently, ADOBE UPDATED THEIR SUITE!! Okay, not recently but in 2015. They added a feature that is in already on a whole bunch of websites, font matching from a picture. Although it's already a thing, it's pretty useful to use in Photoshop itself when you're working and are too lazy to go anywhere else.

All you really have to do is open up your image into photoshop, which has to have a latin-based font, use the rectangular marquee tool to select the font and go into the tabs, to type and then to match font; there's your options!

Desktop and Mobile Trends

What specifically has happened to the percentage of desktop sessions on onwravens.net over the last four years?

According to the Data that Mr.Olson gave us apparently that number of desktop sessions has gone down from nearly 109 thousand viewers, to nearly 58 thousand viewers. That is nearly half of what it used to be.

What specifically has happened to the percentage of mobile sessions during the same time?

The number of mobile sessions on the onwravens.net website has gone from only a mere 20 thousand to 45 thousand in the past 4 years. It's past it's doubling point at this time.

Prediction for Next Year

I believe that within the next year, the number of mobile users were overtake the number of desktop users. I believe this will also reflect in all other websites as well.

What is a bounce rate?

"the percentage of visitors to a particular website who navigate away from the site after viewing only one page."

For all four of the time periods, how do the bounce rate, pages per session, and average session duration compare between desktop, mobile, and tablet users?

Desktop Bounce Rate: 46% in 2012, 42% in 2013, 41% in 2014, 44% in 2015
Desktop Pages per Session: 2.78 in 2012, 2.83 in 2013, 2.78 in 2014, 2.63 in 2015
Desktop Session Durations: 2:15 in 2012, 2:28 in 2013, 2:19 in 2014, 2:14 in 2015

Mobile Bounce Rate: 53% in 2012, 58% in 2013, 56% in 2014, 59% in 2015
Mobile Pages per Session: 2.1 in 2012, 1.99 in 2013, 2.03 in 2014, 1.97 in 2015
Mobile Session Durations: 1:45 in 2012, 1:35 in 2013, 1:28 in 2014, 1:31 in 2015

Tablet Bounce Rate: 39% in 2012, 46% in 2013, 47% in 2014, 49% in 2015
Tablet Pages per Session: 2.93 in 2012, 2.75 in 2013, 2.56 in 2014, 2.53 in 2015
Tablet Session Durations: 2:26 in 2012, 2:28 in 2013, 2:11 in 2014, 2:17 in 2015

What does this tell you about the needs or tendencies of a mobile user compared to a desktop user? Imagine you are going to our website on your phone - what are you likely to be looking for?

Mobile users tend to be on for less time and tend to view less pages as Desktop users. Mobile websites are easier to navigate and therefore easier to get on and get off. I would probably be looking for summer assignments if anything, or something Mr.Olson would want us to look at.

Look up statistics and/or international percentage of Internet usage of desktop and mobile
